A
great opportunity to get to know the Icelandic horse in its natural surroundings.

Vorsabær
is only 80 km. from Reykjavík, around one hours drive.
Over the winter time we have around 40 horses in our stable besides 60
horses which are fed out in the fields. Our daily work consists of taking
care of these horses, feeding, training and related care. During the summer
time the horses are kept out in the fields, but there are always around
25- 30 horses in smaller paddocks nearby the stable. There are at all
times employees, often foreigners, who take care of the training and other
work around the horses.Many well known breedinghorses are from Vorsabæ2
for example the stallions Gassi and Forseti. |
We
provide personal service and can receive individuals as well as smaller
groups. |

Guidance
and schooling for beginners as well as advanced riders in training and
horsemanship.
Riding tours. We provide shorter riding tours all year
round in the wonderful surroundings of Vorsabaer. During the summer time
it is ideal to ride out to the fields to look at the horse stock and the
sheep. At Vorsabaer we also have 250 m oval track and an indoor riding
arena. |
Horses
for sale. We always have a selection of horses for sale. If you
are looking for the horse of your dreams you will possibly find it at
Vorsabaer where you will have enough time to get to know him better. During
the years we have sold a lot of horses both to Icelanders- and foreigners.

Other
domestic animals. Besides horses we also have sheep, goats, cattle
cats and dogs which our guests can of course care for.
Participation in farm work. Our guests are welcome to
participate in various works at the farm or just to regard the household
at their work. |

Hiking
tours. To the north is the mountain Vördufell at a short
distance. There are many interesting paths such as past beautiful waterfall
or to the lake at the top. Besides there is a great view from the top
of the mountain. |

Popular
tourist attractions in the South of Iceland are at a close range
such as Gullfoss and Geysir. We can provide tours to these wonderful attractions
and other interesting places in the neighborhood. A swimming pool is at
Brautarholt 2 km. from Vorsabær. |

Accommodation
is in a cozy house with kitchen and a living room where up to
10 people can stay at a time. The view from the house is breathtaking
and in the east the famous volcano Hekla is dominating. |

A
big porch is outside. Guests can use the kitchen freely but we
can also provide full board of traditional Icelandic food in the family
house which is at a walking distance. For the common tourist it is ideal
to rent the country house for one or more nights when travelling in the
South of Iceland. |
Please
note that we provide all necessary riding gear such as saddles,
helmets and rain suit. If you take your own riding wear with you they
have to be cleaned before entering the country. All riding boots have
to be disinfected. |
